"I felt extremely honored," Zhang, a member of the women's 3,000m relay bronze-winning team at Beijing 2022, said of her experience leading the delegation as Team China's flagbearer on Friday night.
"As a Chinese athlete, being able to represent China and walk in the front of the delegation carrying our national flag at the Winter Olympic Games is incredibly exciting and a very proud moment for me," Zhang said. "I hope I can lead by example by first doing my own job well. If they (younger athletes) can see qualities or character traits in me that are worth learning from, and grow through that, then I feel I can help guide them through my own actions."
