Chinese OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) achieved sales of 16 million vehicles in the Chinese mainland in 2025, capturing roughly 60 percent of the market share — "a very nice performance," Tao Gao, research and analysis associate director of S&P Global Mobility, said in an online interview with China Daily Website.
According to data from S&P Global Mobility and automaker disclosures, Nikkei Asia has projected that Chinese carmakers could lead global vehicle sales in 2025, reshaping the global auto industry long dominated by Japan and the United States.
