The National Museum of China received a donation of more than 100 works by late artist Wu Shi from his family on Friday. A catalog of Wu's body of works compiled by the National Museum was also published.

Wu, born in Hunan province in 1912, was a painter and print maker whose oeuvre chronicles China's revolutionary course and socialist constructions throughout the 20th century.

His works are vibrant with the power of simplicity and truth. Whether depicting a grand scene or a moment from daily life, Wu's art conveyed intense emotions to touch people of generations.

A retrospective exhibition to introduce Wu's art was held at the National Museum in 2019.
