COLOMBO - The Sri Lankan navy on Thursday denied the media reports of any 'suspicious' Chinese vessel mapping out the Indian Ocean or entering into Colombo harbor.

Navy Media Spokesman Commander Kosala Warnakulasuriya said that there was no Chinese vessel going through its examination or entering Colombo harbor.

He said according to International Sea Port Security, the Sri Lankan navy has examined any vessel that enters or goes out from Colombo harbor but it never detected any suspicious vessel from China.

"This must be a story spread by somebody who is not interested in naval interference of Chinese ships in the area," Warnakulasuriya said. ?

He also said that this story had been there for last two months.

The navy spokesman was replying to Indian media reports which claimed that a Chinese vessel that was mapping out in the Indian Ocean had entered a harbor in Colombo.

Meanwhile General Manager of Colombo Dockyard, N. M. K. B. Nayakaratne also said that there was no report of any Chinese vessel entering Colombo Dock Yard.
