A 76-year-old garbage collector in Shangqiu, Henan province, picked up 13,320 yuan ($2,114) in cash and 38 bank cards, then tracked down the owner through police.

Zhang Wensi found the green plastic bag containing cash and bank cards inside in Yuanxiang town on Feb 23.

"I've never seen so much money in my life and neither did I figure out how much in the bank cards. But I believe I could not take money that does not belong to me. I would not feel good when spending others' money," Zhang said.

With the help of police, Zhang was able to find Li Wei, an official at a local bank who withdrew the money for villagers on that day before he lost the money.

Zhang has no children and lives in a small house. He hasn't bought new clothes in 30 years and he has no bed or quilt in his home.

His behavior has moved many people, and the local government offered to help him.
