Lei Siwei, vice-governor of Northwest China's Gansu province, is under investigation while in office for suspected serious violations of Party discipline and laws, according to a statement released on Tuesday by China's top anti-graft authorities.

He is currently undergoing disciplinary review and supervisory investigation by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Commission of Supervision.

Lei, 59, a native of Gansu, began his career in June 1989. He has spent his career in Gansu, serving in a range of senior posts.

He was previously a director and general manager of Baiyin Nonferrous Group. In 2018, he became the director of the province's ecology and environment department. He was appointed the head of the provincial natural resources department in 2020.

In July 2021, Lei started to serve as Party chief of Jiayuguan, a city in Gansu. He became vice governor of Gansu in 2023 and was appointed a member of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China Gansu Provincial Committee in June 2025.
