The Chinese mainland will remain committed to the one-China principle and the 1992 Consensus, resolutely fighting against separatist forces aimed at "Taiwan independence" and opposing external interference, according to a government work report submitted Thursday to the country's top legislature for deliberation.

The report, delivered by Premier Li Qiang at the fourth session of the 14th National People's Congress, stated that the mainland will fully implement the overall policy of the Communist Party of China for the new era on resolving the Taiwan question.

It pledged to promote the peaceful development of cross-Strait relations and advance the cause of national reunification.

The report also highlighted promoting exchanges, cooperation, and integrated development across the Taiwan Strait. It called on people on both sides of the Strait to work together to pass on and carry forward Chinese culture.

In addition, the mainland will implement policies designed to ensure equal treatment for Taiwan compatriots, with the aim of improving the well-being of people on both sides of the Strait, according to the report.

The report also called on Chinese people on both sides of the Strait to join hands in advancing the great cause of national rejuvenation.
