The Fujian coast guard conducted a routine law enforcement patrol in the waters near Jinmen, an island administered by Taiwan, on Wednesday. Zhu Anqing, a spokesman for the coast guard's East China Sea bureau, said in a news release that the move is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen maritime management in the region.

Since the beginning of February, the Fujian coast guard has organized vessel task forces to continuously step up law enforcement patrols in the waters near Jinmen. These operations are aimed at further enhancing control over the relevant maritime areas, according to Zhu. He emphasized that the actions are intended to effectively protect the legitimate rights, interests, and safety of Chinese fishermen, including those from the Taiwan region.

Furthermore, the patrols serve to provide a solid guarantee for the normal navigation and operation orders in the waters between Xiamen and Jinmen, he added. The CCG has previously noted that such patrols are necessary measures to maintain the rule of law and maritime order in the area.
