A pair of slow service trains in Guizhou province hosted pop-up markets on Sunday in advance of the Chinese New Year holiday.

The trains run between Yuping county and the provincial capital, Guiyang, and link more than 100 villages along their route. They are among many such trains operating across the region.

"Our train stops at every station," said conductor Hu Guichuan. "Villagers often board carrying fresh vegetables and other farm produce to sell in the city, then return by train."

Temporary fairs on board allowed passengers to buy vegetables that had been growing in the fields just hours earlier, along with a variety of goods for the upcoming holiday.
