A Chinese mainland spokeswoman emphasized the importance of the one-China principle as a fundamental norm in international relations and urged Lithuania to align itself with the "right side of history".

Responding to recent comments by Lithuanian Prime Minister Inga Ruginiene regarding Taiwan, Zhu Fenglian, spokeswoman for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, reiterated at a regular press conference on Wednesday, "There is only one China in the world, and Taiwan is part of China."

Zhu Fenglian, spokesperson for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, speaks at a regular press conference in Beijing on Wednesday.

Zhu highlighted that the one-China principle is a widely recognized consensus within the international community and a fundamental norm of international relations, reflecting the collective will of the people. She called on Lithuania to rectify its actions promptly and to position itself on the right side of history.

According to reports, Ruginiene had recently characterized Lithuania's decision to allow Taiwan to establish a representative office in Vilnius back in 2021 as a "mistake", stating, "I think Lithuania really jumped in front of a train and lost."

The Chinese Foreign Ministry stated on Friday that it is open to dialogue with Vilnius, urging Lithuania to transform its willingness to improve bilateral relations into concrete actions.
