TEHRAN -- Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) is scheduled to hold "live-fire" exercises in the Strait of Hormuz on Sunday and Monday as tensions remain extremely high between Tehran and Washington, Iran's Press TV news network reported.

In a post on social media platform X on Thursday, Press TV said that the drills will be carried out by the IRGC's Navy, describing the strait as "a chokepoint for the flow of 20 percent of the world's oil and natural gas."

US President Donald Trump said Wednesday that a "massive armada," headed by the Aircraft Carrier Abraham Lincoln and larger than the one sent to Venezuela, is heading toward Iran, and warned Tehran that "time is running out" to make a deal with the United States.

In response to Trump's threats in a Wednesday post on X, Iran's Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi said, "Our brave armed Forces are prepared?— with their fingers on the trigger?— to immediately and powerfully respond to any aggression."

Iran on Monday warned of a "comprehensive and regret-inducing" response to any aggression.
