TCM brings winter healthcare closer
A public health initiative aimed at promoting traditional Chinese medicine culture and providing winter healthcare services to residents was launched at Beijing Book Building on Thursday.
The "Warming Chrysanthemum, Moistening Winter" event, organized by Beijing Hospital of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine and co-hosted by BTime under Beijing Radio and Television Network and the Beijing Book Building, features free medical consultations, health lectures, herbal medicine demonstrations, and cultural experiences.
Yang Qingling, Party secretary of the Beijing hospital, said the institution is committed to bringing professional medical resources closer to communities and integrating TCM wisdom into everyday life.
Looking ahead, the hospital will continue to deepen innovation in its "TCM+" service model, collaborate with a wider range of partners to offer diverse health activities, expand the reach of high-quality and accessible healthcare services, and ensure the strengths of integrated Chinese and Western medicine benefit more families, Yang said.
Li Xiuli, deputy director of the Haidian district health commission, emphasized the significance of winter healthcare management and chronic disease prevention. "The collaboration with Beijing Book Building creates an innovative model for public health education, making TCM knowledge more accessible and practical for residents," Li added.
Interactive cultural experiences have proved particularly popular. Residents can create handmade herbal incense sachets and participate in calligraphy activities in collaboration with Yidege, a time-honored brand and national intangible cultural heritage.
"We have expanded consultation services to weekends to accommodate working residents and will extend health lectures and guidance to various community settings," said an event organizer.
The event will continue through Jan 18, offering Beijing residents opportunities to engage with TCM culture and gain practical knowledge on winter healthcare.
