Qinglong county, Southwest China's Guizhou province recently held a locally branded Village Gran Turismo motorsport event, drawing fans from across China to what was once a little-known county.
"We want to build a platform that allows car culture fans from around the nation to showcase themselves freely while ensuring safety," said Yan Jiao, deputy head of Qinglong's publicity department.
Local media report that Qinglong has a long-standing connection with motor racing. Featuring a 24-Zig hill climb, known for its dramatic hairpin turns, the event has been held for more than 20 years.
Similar events have been staged regularly, forming a stable motorsport tradition in the mountainous area.
