A major exhibition featuring the renowned Juyan Hanjian (Han-era wooden or bamboo slips), a treasure trove of ancient Chinese documents, opened on Sunday at the Inner Mongolia Museum in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia autonomous region.

Titled "Reading Juyan: Slips of the Han Dynasty (206 BC-AD 220) from the Juyan Site", the exhibition will run until March 15, offering a deep dive into frontier life two millennia ago.

The Juyan Hanjian are dubbed as one of China's four great discoveries of ancient documents from the early 20th century, alongside the Oracle Bones of Yinxu Ruins in Henan province.

Discovered in several batches throughout the 20th century, over 30,000 slips have been unearthed from the Juyan archaeological site and several other locations.

The Juyan site is a significant, large-scale ancient cultural complex located within the Inner Mongolia autonomous region and Gansu province.
