The slips are categorized into groups like the "Juyan Slips", found in the 1930s, and the "New Juyan Slips", excavated in the 1970s. These wooden and bamboo slips served primarily as military and administrative archives for the frontier garrison.

To bring this history to life, the exhibition employs interactive digital displays. These allow visitors to virtually experience the process of transporting official documents and gain an immersive understanding of the ancient frontier post system.

The exhibition presents a carefully curated selection of 400 artifacts unearthed from the site, including wooden or bamboo slips, objects, and official documents.

Also opening concurrently is the companion exhibition, "Black Water City Treasures: Russian-collected Paintings from Khara-Khoto".

The ruins of Khara-Khoto, also known as the "black city" in Ejine Banner, Alshaa League, stand in the desert.

The exhibition showcases high-quality reproductions of nearly 200 paintings from the ancient city, which blend artistic styles from different cultures along the Silk Road.

Both exhibitions aim to foster public appreciation for the depth, continuity, and diverse exchanges within Chinese civilization.
