BEIJING -- During the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025), China has enhanced its legislation work with the aims of better serving the high-quality social and economic development, and better safeguarding the interests and benefits of the people, a senior Chinese official said Monday.

During the period, China's State Council submitted 53 legislative proposals to the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress for deliberation, and formulated or revised 150 sets of administrative regulations, said He Rong, minister of justice, at a press conference.

The minister noted that during the period, a number of important laws and regulations were implemented, including the private economy promotion law, the energy law, and a set of provisional regulations for the management of unmanned aerial vehicles.

In the meantime, the country also focused on enhancing the legal guarantee of improving people's livelihood, He said. The minister added that the Ministry of Justice cooperated with relevant departments in formulating or revising key laws and rules in this regard, such as the food safety law, the preschool education law, as well as regulations for the implementation of China's law on the protection of consumer rights and interests.
