Soul

Released on Christmas Day, the new Pixar animated feature, Soul, is touching the soft spot in the hearts of Chinese audiences, winning it a staggering 9.1 points out of 10 on Douban, an IMDB-like platform in China.

The film follows Joe Gardner (voiced by Jamie Foxx), a black middle-school band teacher who accidentally gets his soul transported to the Great Before, a world where new souls get their personalities before they become humans.

Determined to return to his human form, Joe partners up with an infant soul, 22 (voiced by Tina Fey), who has never understood the appeal of human experience. As Joe tries to show 22 what's great about living, he also discovers the answers to some of life's most important questions.

If you want to figure out what it is that makes you, you, just join Joe's soul-searching adventure!
