For people who must stay at home, TikTok provides a moment of relief. Funny videos about COVID-19, made by Mistlmakher, an 18-year-old college student from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, were praised by many TikTok users as a good choice to "reduce pressure".

According to Sensor Tower, an app analytics platform, TikTok hit a new record of 113 million global downloads in February.
