The film Dying to Survive is the top winner of the China Film Directors’ Guild Awards, an annual and influential event for domestic industry insiders.
The film directed by Wen Muye and starring Xu Zheng took home three awards -- the best young director, actor and picture – in the Beijing recently.
The jury comment said the film highlighted social issues and public welfare, and showed how realistic stories can be told.
“It lets the market see that a quality film can be more than merely entertaining.”
