People's Insurance Co (Group) of China, one of the nation's largest insurers, unveiled its CSR report, the first after its dual listing in Shanghai last year.

In 2018, the group provided 60.5 billion yuan ($9 billion) of insurance coverage for emerging industries with strategic importance. Meanwhile, PICC showed its commitment to finance farmers, small and medium enterprises by offering them a total loan of 22.6 billion in a joint form of insurance and financing, said the report.

The group currently runs poverty alleviation projects in 58 poverty stricken counties across 11 provinces, offering residents an insurance coverage of 185.7 billion yuan.

Miao Jianmin, chairman of PICC Group, said the company will commit itself to better serve the development of the real economy, green finance and poverty alleviation.
