Cathay Pacific resumes flights to and from Tokyo

HONG KONG - Cathay Pacific Airways announced Saturday that the carrier will resume scheduled flights to Narita International Airport and Haneda Airport in Tokyo in the afternoon, as the airports are gradually returning to normal after a 8.8-magnitude earthquake hit the coast of north-eastern Japan on Friday.

The flights to and from Fukuoka, Nagoya, Osaka, and Sapporo will operate as scheduled, but passengers are advised to expect delays.

Meanwhile, customers going to Tokyo are advised of potential disruptions with local transportation facilities to and from the Narita airport and also connections for domestic flights.

According to the carrier, all Cathay Pacific passengers at the affected airports in Japan have been accounted for and are safe.

Cathay Pacific Airways suspended all flights to Narita and Haneda airports on Friday evening concerning the airport's operational status and the availability of ground transportation facilities in Tokyo after the massive earthquake jolted the country.
