The Range Rover Velar, British premium carmaker Jaguar Land Rover's all-new sport utility vehicle model, made its world debut in London late on Wednesday.

JLR sold 583,000 vehicles in 2016 worldwide, with the Chinese market alone contributing more than 20 percent of the total sale.

China was JLR's largest single market last year, followed by the UK and United States. The company sold 119,000 cars in China in 2016, 59,000 of which were locally produced at its Changshu plant in East China's Jiangsu province, including the Range Rover Evoque, Discovery Sport and Jaguar XFL, which is available only in the Chinese market.
