The marathon Lima climate summit finally ended more than 32 hours after the scheduled closure deadline with a rather "balanced" outcome said the head of the Chinese delegation on Sunday.

More than 190 countries adopted a document named "Lima call for action" without objection in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Xie Zhenhua, head of the Chinese delegation, said the outcome was within the Chinese delegation's expectation.

"We're not very satisfied with the outcome, but we think it's a balanced and nice document," said Xie after the closure of the meeting.

He said the Lima summit is a critical step toward next year's Paris summit, where a global agreement on addressing climate change will be signed.

"Next year's negotiations will be more challenging and require parties to show greater flexibility," said Xie.
