TEHRAN - Deputy head of Iran's Armed Forces Joint Chiefs of Staff Brigadier General Masoud Jazayeri announced Iran plans to establish its first cyber command for the country's armed forces in order to counter soft warfare against the Islamic Republic, the English language satellite Press TV reported on Wednesday.

Jazayeri told reporters on Tuesday that comprehensive studies on the cyber command have already been carried out and the results will soon be rendered to the Iranian Armed Forces, said the report.

He said that Iran's military forces must be equipped with state- of-the-art technology when it comes to soft warfare.

In December last year, senior Iranian army commander, Brigadier General Mohammad Baqeri, warned of the waves of soft war against the Islamic Republic, saying that enemies have now targeted the self-confidence of the Iranian nation.

By soft war, "enemy tries to affect the thoughts of the other side to gain victory and attains its goals by invading the values and patterns of behavior and changing them," Baqeri was quoted as saying by the semi-official Fars news agency.

Iranian officials have warned people to be vigilant against the enemies (Westerners') plot to launch "soft revolution" and "soft overthrow" against the values and beliefs of the Islamic Revolution.

"Today, western states, especially the U.S., have turned to soft revolution to topple governments in democratic states by inciting public opinion," Iranian senior lawmaker Javad Jahangirzadeh said earlier.

To affect the public opinion to raise unrest in the country, the West has sought to massively use satellite stations and internet networking in the recent years, Iranian authorities have claimed.
