BEIJING - China said Thursday it hopes the Group of 20 (G20) Summit in Seoul next month will promote global economic growth in a robust, sustainable and balanced manner.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Ma Zhaoxu made the remarks at a regular news briefing.

"The Seoul G20 summit, the first of its kind to be held in an Asian country and an emerging market, is important for the development of the G20," Ma said.

China hopes the summit can present Asian countries' development experiences to the world, he added.

G20 members should work together to consolidate the momentum of the world economic recovery, Ma said.

The fifth G20 Summit, an international forum on economic cooperation among the world's 20 major economies, will be held from Nov 11 to 12 in Seoul, the Republic of Korea (ROK).

Previous G20 summits were held in Washington, London, Pittsburgh and Toronto.

The G20 members - Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Britain, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, the ROK, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, the United States and the European Union - account for 90 percent of global output, 80 percent of global trade and two-thirds of the world's population.
