PYONGYANG: If the Republic of Korea (ROK) enforced a UN Security Council resolution against the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), "it would mean a war," a commentary carried by the Rodong Sinmun daily said Saturday.

The article, titled "Participating in 'Sanctions' Will Draw Disaster," said the ROK enforcing the UN resolution was a "severe provocative action against the DPRK."

It warned that the DPRK will "mercilessly retaliate the intruder," if South Korea "infringed upon the sovereignty of the DPRK" by the pretext of enforcing the UN resolution.

The UN Security Council last Friday unanimously approved wider sanctions against the DPRK over its May 25 nuclear test.

The resolution banned all weapons exports from the DPRK and most arms imports into the country. It authorized UN member states to inspect the DPRK's sea, air and land cargo, requiring them to seize and destroy any goods transported in violation of the sanctions.
