CAIRO - Arab League (AL) Secretary General Amr Moussa on Thursday strongly condemned the bomb attack in Pakistan that killed former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto and dozens of other people.

In a statement issued by the Cairo-based Arab bloc on Thursday, Moussa extended his condolences to the Pakistani people over the killing of Bhutto, expressing shock and grief at such "heinous terrorist crime."

Bhutto, 54, died Thursday evening after being seriously injured in an explosion at her election rally near the Pakistani capital of Islamabad, the official APP news agency quoted interior ministry sources as saying.

The latest reports from the state-run PTV said at least ten people were killed in the blast.

However, a private TV, ARJ, reported that at least 20 were killed and another 42 were injured in the blast.

Bhutto, leader of the opposition Pakistan People's Party, served twice as Pakistan's prime minister between 1988 and 1996. She had returned to Pakistan on October 18 after an eight-year exile.
