The prestigious National Ballet of China is staging the original, well-known Chinese classical ballet The Red Detachment of Women. Over the past five decades, the company has staged nearly 4,000 performances of The Red Detachment of Women across mainland China and in over 20 foreign countries including the United States, the United Kingdom, Russia, Denmark, Israel, France and Italy, contributing to the international reputation of the talented troupe. "The Red Detachment of Women" is an all-female company of the Red Army, the ballet then tells the tale of a peasant Qionghua, who has escaped the clutches of tyrant Nanbatian, a landowner who has captured all of his tenants and imprisoned them for non payment of his exorbitant rent. When she is discovered by Hong Changqing, the army's Commissar, her life changes forever as she joins the communist party and the Red Detachment of Women and leads them to defeat Nanbatian and liberate the people.
