Cherry smoothie DIY

Many people firmly believe "An apple a day, keeps the doctor away". For me, I aim higher—"Twelve cherries a day bring beauty your way." After the unseasonably cold winter in Beijing this year, summer finally comes with plenty of sunshine, as dictated by the cycle of nature.

In the eyes of some foreigners, China has the best food on the entire planet. But when it comes to standard recipes, as many laowai joke:"You don't have a recipe, you just kind of do it!"

Eileen Wen Mooney, regular contributor to China Daily and dining editor for Fodor's China, shares this simple magic recipe of whipping up a nutritious and tasty cherry smoothie.

What you need:

Yogurt: 1 cup

Fresh cherries: 1 cup (pitted)

Honey: 1/4 cup (or sugar)

Ice Cubes: 1 cup

And,a couple of minutes.

Summer's best fruit, it's the simplest way to stay cool and the smartest way to stay young and pretty.
