The premiere of Echoes of the Rainbow was held on April 13 in Beijing, declaring the start of its showing on the Chinese mainland. The film has won the Crystal Bear for Best Feature Film at the 60th Berlinale 2010’s Generation section and also six nominations for the upcoming 29th Hong Kong Film Awards, including for best actor and best actress.
Director Alex Law, producer Mabel Cheung, production supervisor Charley Zhuo, leading actors Simon Yam and Aarif Li attended the premiere, while leading actress Sandra Ng did not show up because of a busy schedule.
The film recalls Hong Kong in the 1960s through the bittersweet stories of a struggling family.
The film opened in Hong Kong on March 11 and is slated to hit mainland cinemas on April 16.
