Chinese writer undergoes surgery to look like Shakespeare

A writer might aspire to write like Shakespeare, but one Chinese writer went one step further and wanted to look like his idol, too.

Zhang Yiyi spent over a million yuan ($170,000), or all the royalties his book had earned, to go under the knife in order to look like Shakespeare. The surgeries all took place within a month.

Netizens were intrigued and shocked by his transformation. An Internet user jokingly said, "He lifted the looks of the average Chinese writer,” while another one bluntly said the action was "stupid" and that the writer was "the fool of the year".
