Bus company defends eating driver

A bus driver who was caught on video eating sunflower seeds while driving on icy roads in Harbin has been defended by his company as having an illness, Heilongjiang TV reported.

In the video filmed by a passenger, the driver constantly stuffs sunflower seeds in his mouth with his left hand and lowered his head often to throw away shells, despite the fact that he was steering the bus.

The bus company said the driver suffers from low blood sugar, which requires him to eat constantly. But the driver would still be punished for his irresponsible behavior, the company added.
