Cosmetic surgery certificate required for ID card renewal

It would occur to few to bring along their plastic surgery certificate when renewing their ID card, if they think what they've done to their faces was not a major facelift.

A young lady went to renew her ID card Wednesday in Nanjing but was required to produce a plastic surgery certificate because she had removed a mole beside her lip, Modern Express reported.

According to a report from Sina.com, she went through all her medical records at the insurance company to find out the name of the doctor and other details of the surgery.

After a day's effort, she got a doctor's note certifying her cosmetic surgery in 2011.

It is not the first ID problem caused by cosmetic surgery. In 2009, a group of Chinese women who traveled to South Korea for cosmetic surgery baffled immigration officers on their return trip when their new looks did not match their passport photos.

Think you're an honest person? One migrant worker was faced with this question when he found 130,000 yuan, in our next story.
