Home-made saline almost kills patient

Home-made food is fine, but home-made medicine can prove to be risky, as a man from Hunan province found out.

The man surnamed Luo was suffering from diarrhea for some days and took his friend's advice to inject "salty water" as saline into his body. His home-made treatment left his hands swollen and suppurated, according to a Xinhua report Wednesday.

He was then sent to hospital for treatment. Doctors warn that salty water cannot work as saline and can prove to be dangerous if it is infected.
