Man denied wife's insurance payout

A Beijing court dismissed a man's claim for half of an 850,000 yuan ($138.800) car accident insurance payout made to his wife, the Beijing Morning Post reported.

The man, surnamed Zhao, and his wife, surnamed Cheng, met online in 2012 and married in 2013. The accident occurred when the couple drove to visit relatives in May. Cheng, paralyzed in the accident, received the money as compensation. Zhao filed for divorce in September, and claimed the funds were their joint property.
