Zhang Xiyuan, a young man in Beijing bought a 230-square-meter villa in Hebei province, neighboring the capital, to escape soaring housing prices, Beijing Youth Daily reported.
But he discovered the grueling journey to work - a round trip of 140 kilometers a day - was too much and now only goes home during the weekend.
