Up close with tigers

The Science Population Museum of Beijing is presenting Zoo Tigers of My Life, a photography exhibition on the lives and breeding of Siberian tigers in Northeast China. On display are dozens of photos taken by Hong Kong environmentalist Vivien Chong. The pictures capture important moments of a tiger's lifecycle including giving birth, fighting and mating.

Chong has been focusing her lens on Siberian tigers since 2006. She spends several months a year in the Hengdaohezi Felid Breed Center of China in Heilongjiang province and observes how the endangered species struggles to survive. The exhibition first came to the Capital Museum in June, and Chong hopes this time it can inspire more children and cultivate their interests in nature and wildlife.

Visitors to the exhibition are encouraged to draw a painting based on any of the exhibited photos, along with a brief note on their understanding of the selected photo. They can hand their works to the zoo employees before Sept 16, and winners will receive one of Chong's photos as reward.

9 am-4 pm, until Sept 25. Beijing Zoo, 137 Xizhimenwai Dajie, Xicheng district, Beijing. 010-6831-5131, 6839-0274.
