RIO DE JANEIRO-- Brazil's National Anti-Doping Agency announced on Sunday that they would increased the number of drug tests to Brazilian athletes in 2009.

The agency's medical coordinator Rafael de Souza Trindade said that the number of the out-of-competition tests would be intensified.

Under the new regulation, the top 400 professional track and field athletes in the country will register themselves in the agency's webpage. They will have to fill out a survey and describe their daily practice routine and any upcoming trips or competitions.

In addition, each athlete will have to provide information on how to find them each day. In the past, the agency often called an athlete's coach and gave notice of an upcoming test.

The president of the agency, Thomaz Mattos de Paiva said," If an ahtlete does not know when he or she will be tested, it is more likely that they will not use illegal substances."
