The Sixth Qingdao International Beer Festival, a 16-day event from Aug 10 to 25, 1996, chose a rat called Qi Qi as its mascot. It took place at four sites: Huiquan Plaza, Stone Man National Tourism Resort, Cultural Park and Tianheng Island. The splendid event, themed around “ascension”, featured mass cultural, recreational and sports activities, including live music and even wrestling competitions.
