Hong Kong Disneyland set up office in Sichuan

CHENGDU: Hong Kong Disneyland announced that it had established a liaison office in Chengdu, capital of Southwest China's Sichuan Province.
It is the resorts' fourth liaison office on the Chinese mainland after Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, said Chief Executive Officer Kim Min Ho at the launching ceremony of the Chengdu office on Thursday.
Hong Kong Disneyland has received more than 20 million visitors since its debut in September 2005. About 40 percent of the visitors have been from the Chinese mainland, he said.
Sichuan has witnessed an increasing number of visitors to Hong Kong since individuals from Chengdu were permitted to visit Hong Kong in 2005.
During the 2010 New Year's Day and Spring Festival, Hong Kong was Sichuan people's preferred destination for outbound tourism. Chengdu has now been included in the Hong Kong Tourism Board's list of high-growth market areas, he said.
Chengdu also has become Hong Kong Disneyland's focus for market exploitation this year. This explains why company has chosen the city as the site for its fourth office on the Chinese mainland, he added.
Hong Kong Disneyland started preparing for the establishment of the Chengdu office last year. The office will facilitate tourists in Sichuan, Hubei, Yunnan and Guizhou provinces and Chongqing Municipality.
The office also will gather information from local tourists to help Hong Kong Disneyland design more products and routes suitable for them, he said.
