Yunnan painting show opens in Shanghai

Six painters from Yunnan province made a debut of their traditional Chinese paintings in Shanghai on April 16.
The eight-day show at the Shanghai Chinese Painting Academy exhibits 75 pieces of works they have created in the past two years. They reflect the province's natural scenes and the lifestyle of local people, said Zhang Zhiping, president of Yunnan Visual Arts College.
Zhang, who leads the painter group, is also a well-known painter apt at drawing flowers and birds in traditional Chinese style.
"The displayed paintings are full of the rich flavour of local life, making us learn a lot of Yunnan," said Che Pengfei, vice president of the academy.
Yin Xin, executive deputy director of the Publicity Department of Yunnan Party Committee, said since 2002, the painters have focused on Yunnan to seek the inspiration of their artistic creation.
"They are all full of feelings toward Yunnan's plants and trees although they have different life background," Yin said.
The show will move to Shandong after it closes in Shanghai, Zhang said.
