Huian militia women in traditional clothes patrol along a countryside path on July 31, 2012. Established in 1956, Hubaoguan Coastal Defense Post is the only outpost in Hui’an county, Fujian province. The outpost consists of 10 militia members including nine local females, the youngest 18 to the oldest at 48. They take part in rescue and relief tasks as well as guarding their post.
