In Canada, the age is 19 in most places. This means that you cannot drink in bars below this age. Technically, you are not supposed to drink at all below the age of 19. However, a lot of teens will try as young as 16, or even younger. Shop owners do ask for ID if you look under 19. According to law, the shop owner is culpable if they sell to anyone under 19. The minimum fine is CAD $5,000 (31,500 RMB). That's just the first offence. If you get caught a second time, it is around CAD $50,000 (315,000 RMB).
