Susi Susanti won the women's singles gold medal at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona and the bronze medal at Atlanta in 1996.
Often considered the finest female badminton player Indonesia has ever produced, Susanti dominated the women's singles in the early-to mid-1990s.
She retired in 1997 and married Alan Budikusuma, who also won a gold medal at the 1992 Summer Olympics. They have 3 children: Lourencia Averina, Albertus Edward and Sebastianus Frederick.
Together they run a badminton club in North Jakarta.
