As the Spring Festive season is upon us, all walks of society, including the children, are engaged in related activities. One such activity took place in the High-Tech No 1 Primary School within the Kunming Hi-Tech Zone in Yunnan province on Jan 29.

A group of school children led by their teachers and parents learned and engaged in writing Spring Festival couplets. While children seemed to enjoy the activity, it helped encourage pupils’ enthusiasm for traditional Chinese culture.

Teachers, students and parents joined the activity altogether. They wrote couplets to express their wishes for a happy, peaceful and healthy Chinese New Year and achievements they want to make in the Year of Goat.

This activity of writing Spring Festival couplets not only helped pupils improve their handwriting, but also made them better understand Chinese traditional culture, including calligraphy and ancient poetry.
