The Datong Lantern Festival for 2014 had a successful conclusion, on Feb 16, as 54 lantern arrangements and 12 ice lanterns gradually went out, after a record number of tourists, 250,000, paid them a visit during the half-month festival, whose theme was "An ancient city with colored lanterns - beautiful Datong".

The goal of the show was to enrich people's lives, provide a festival atmosphere, build a better Datong brand, and promote tourism, through culture and charm. It had four zones -- "Spring in old Datong", "Snowy, icy world", "Folk customs", and "Joyful heaven" -- and cultural activities that were part of the festival to give visitors a grand cultural feast.
