Updated: 2018-08-10

The first Datong International Expo for Intelligent Energy Systems and New Energy Products opened in a local international tech-innovation park for energy revolution on Aug 9, to last for a month.

Sponsored by the Datong government, Datong Coal Mine Group and Datong University, the expo focuses on showcasing companies’ strengths, promoting investment and leading industrial development.

It aims to establish a platform for international communication and cooperation in the innovation and development of the energy sector, select high-end products and providers of eco-friendly and smart energy systems for Datong’s industrial transformation, and attract high-tech companies and projects to the city.

More than 150 energy companies from home and abroad are exhibiting over 1,000 of the latest energy technologies and products and seeking partnerships and projects in the 146 booths set up at the expo’s two exhibition venues.

As a coal-rich city, Datong has been transforming its industrial structure to move from dependence on coal resources and realize sustainable development.

The city has introduced a Worldwide Institutes Alliance for Achievements Transformation (WIAAT) and 10 research institutes of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and established a CAS-WIAAT Research Institute for New Energy Industrial Technology as well as the first city-level new energy industry bureau in China. In addition, it has built a 66-hectare international tech-innovation park for energy revolution.
