Residents in Taiyuan city and nearby Taigu county will soon have the opportunity to commute by maglev train, as Shanxi Demonstration Area for Economic Transformation and Reform has recently released a plan to build a maglev train line between the two areas.
The Z3 maglev train line of Shanxi Demonstration Area for Economic Transformation and Reform will run from the terminal of metro line 2 in Taiyuan, to Taigu county in Jinzhong city, extending 30.6 kilometers with 11 stations.
The first stage of construction on the maglev train line, which has five elevated stations, will last two years and total investment is estimated to amount to 4.5 billion yuan ($714.89 million).
