The first Datong Model Airplane Exhibition was held at the Municipal Workers' Stadium in Datong, Shanxi province, on Oct 15, attracting many visitors.
With the support of Datong's bureau of sports and its sports association, more than 50 model airplanes were brought to the exhibition by fans from such cities as Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Hong Kong.
Audience members were surprised by the skilled performance of a model J-10 fighter when it successfully accomplished a sequence of difficult maneuvers beyond the capabilities of even a real J-10.
The model J-10 adopted the same kind of engine as its real-life counterpart at a cost of over 70,000 yuan ($10,573), helping make it one of the most talked about pieces at the exhibition.
