A "Spring Festival in my mind" hand-painting competition, sponsored by Pingyao Tourism Bureau and Pingyao Education, in the city of Jinzhong, Shanxi province, came to an end on Feb 27, with 37 works winning awards.
The competition, one of the Pingyao Chinese New Year activities, collected 542 paintings in total with the theme of 'drawing a colorful Chinese New Year', which showed Pingyao's special geography, featured performances, ancient architecture, local snacks, and folk customs.
Participants ranged from an 83-year-old to teenage students. In the first selection, experts chose 82 works from which people from all walks of life voted in a second round, before a jury of experts appraised the final selection of 37 works, including one outstanding winner, one first prize, five second prizes, 10 third prizes, and 20 excellence awards.
This activity provides a stage for the citizens of Pingyao county to express their creative ideas and inspirations.
